Yes, it’s true! I’m writing a book. No, I don’t have an agent, a book deal, or even half an idea of how to self-publish. But let’s never mind all that. The call has recently come to me that it is time to become more of a writer in my work, and that is time to do this in the form of books.
For the longest time I knew I wanted to write books, but the sheer overwhelming-ness of it all blocked me. The VOLUME OF WORDS! The outline! The topic - what the hell should I write about? Then you have to navigate this whole industry, figure out how to get an agent, a deal, or if not that path, the complications of self-publishing.
I worked myself into a tizzy. Nevermind that over the course of nearly a decade of the Sunday Soother, with hundreds of essays written, over the course of five years of creating courses and workshops, many of which are text-based and probably are books in and of themselves, I have ABSOLUTELY written enough material for SEVERAL books. I just couldn’t get my mind on board. Everything seemed too overwhelming and non-doable.
Then I remembered, I could just start with the basics… the stuff I already knew how to do… aka, the writing.
I could also pick the easy thing. I don’t have to write the Great American Highly Sensitive Person Self Help Novel. I can take it down a notch or two.
And the easy thing for me? Is to write about Tarot, in a way specifically geared towards my beautiful sensitive souls (aka making it friendly, curious, accessible, fun, intuitive).
For one, there’s already a structure inherent in the cards! Amazing! Outline, check.
Every day I ask Tarot, by pulling a card, which card wants to be written about. And it tells me! It’s like having a co-author right in your pocket. Amazing.
It really takes the pressure off.
I’m right in the beginning phases, having written about 5,000 words.
And I figured it might occasionally be fun to share excerpts of the book along the way with paying subscribers!
So if you’re into Tarot, click below to read all about one dude, the Knight of Pentacles.
I’ll share a few other excerpts here and there if I feel called. And when I have information about how the book will be published/available, you all will be the very first to know!
