This essay is just for paid subscribers of the Sunday Soother, of which you can become one here for $7 a month. I tend to write more about health, magic, wellness, the esoteric, and more personal things, than on my main Sunday Soother essays here, so if that’s up your alley, give it a shot!
You can also get these essays as part of the Sunday Soother membership, which is $33 a month, and includes two live calls (new moon circle, and a Tarot circle); a pre-recorded lesson, ritual or practice monthly; weekly Tarot forecasts; community; and an archive of many of my past workshops. You can sign up for that here.

Are you ready to try out something fun this week?
I do my best personal and health growth within mini-challenges, whether it’s 3 days, a week, 30 days or so on. It helps me create a finite “container” that my brain can wrap itself around.
I also do well when I have a very clear and delineated plan of steps to move through that I can check off. (I am forever and will always be a to-do list girly).
And I find it to be especially useful in an area where I am over-controlling (which is so many areas of my life).
A checklist, a plan, and a confined experimentation of time help me retain an illusion of control and influence, which helps me stay a bit safe. I think of it as “helpful” control.
So I want to offer an experiment around releasing control and stepping into surrender for you this week.
Think of it like a combination between a prescription and an experiment.
Totally free, a “why not” attitude, there’s nothing to lose if you try this out.
All you need is to identify an area that is hyper stressing you out, that you are trying to micro-manage, over-control, do all by yourself, that you’re feeling intense hypervigilance and obsession around.
Examples I’ve seen in clients or lived myself?
Dating - WHEN will I meet my person, I’ve been doing, doing, doing, all the right things
Career - when will I get that job, that promotion, that raise, or how can I ensure this one project goes exactly how I need it to? Or perhaps this is more of your partner’s career, you’re trying to exert control and influence on them and their journey. Or maybe you’re self-employed/an entrepreneur like me and your focus is on acquiring paid clients
Health issues - this is painful and hard because it’s so scary and obviously impacts our well-being. It may look like you’re making a million doctor’s appointments, researching for hours every single day, all you can think about is your health, it’s dominating everything, every hour
Living situation/house issues - searching for your next home to live in, rent, or purchase, or the right location for you to move to
If you’ve been over-efforting, burning out, obsessing, this little experiment in releasing control, asking for support, and letting the right solution flow in might be for you.
Ready? Let’s try it out. I’ll also share a story of how I did this recently with something I was hyper-controlling and freaked out about - my taxes, and the outcome that happened for me.
